Hope for the Orphans of War Benefit Dinner

Asalaamu’ alaikum one and all! It is my sincere dua that all of you are well! and that you feel as hopeful as I do right now.

Some time last year, I wrote a blog post about the plight of the Syrians which you can read here.

I came across a group on Facebook called One Solid Ummah who has been doing amazing work in Syria.  Each time I scroll through Facebook I see pictures of children, from Palestine, Syria, Pakistan, and It breaks my heart that while war wages on suffering continues and what for that suffering?

Facebook, is inundated with a lot of trivial things but there is also a lot of sadness that is spread without which we probably would not know the suffering around the world. Social media in itself has become a platform for many weird and wonderful things, especially a way to tell the truth when mainstream media withholds it.

Is the suffering recognised by the powers that be? Should it carry on? Is it really worth it? I don’t know… I don’t think so! No…

I have an insufferable heart! Although,  I am hardly ever in positing really help, the need to do so, burns none the less within me like a midnight flame. Can any of you relate? Can any of you see picture of a child in need and read his story and not feel the need to do something? If you do, you can help me and him and in turn we help each other.

Did you know that, within Syria, 3.1 million children have been put at risk by unrelenting violence, a crumbling infrastructure, ruined schools and hospitals and shortages of essential supplies. 2 million children face malnutrition, severe trauma and other physical or mental injuries and thousands of children have been displaced whereby the UN has warned of a lost generation of Syrian children, I repeat a lost generation of Syrian children.

So, on the 25th April 2015, I along with the help of Little Big Event Planners will be hosting a fundraising and awareness Dinner in Aid of Syrian Orphans.

All monies raised will be going toward the Kirikhan Orphanage based in Turkey, where the displaced children have been set up.
